A close run thing!
A close match. Good display from Leeds though. Hard luck but encouraging for the rest of the season. Last match before the break for the World Cup and we are pretty much in mid table. Two excellent shots by Rodrigo brought him goals and one by the improving young dutch player Crysencio Summerville.
Willy Gnonto strike his first goal at Elland Road
An excellent shot gives Willy Gnonto his first league goal at Elland Road. Rodrigo yet again hits a great goal and he's been looking like a goal scoring brute in recent matches for us. We gave away a penalty though and could only manage a draw in a match we were looking to win.
Meslier super show gives us a nil-nil draw
This was a pretty decent display by us to get a draw at high-flying, Saudi-backed Newcastle. Admittedly though we needed a great performance by Meslier to keep us the clean sheet.
Struijk strikes with headed goal
A tough match for our lads against reigning champs Citeh. We were already 3-nil down but a fine header by Pascal Struijk from a corner gave us a consolation. Our first league match after the World Cup saw Leeds born Erling Haaland score a couple against us.
Junior Firpo's first goal in the PL is a mega important one.
A much needed win by Leeds United gets us out of the bottom 3. Junior Firpo scores his first Premier League goal for Leeds. A clever back heel by Jack Harrison comes to Firpo and he puts it under the Saints goalkeeper. Our first win in the PL at Elland Road for ages. Great joy!
Almost held on for a win in very good effort
Willy Gnonto scores the opening goal with a well struck shot just inside the left hand post. The second was an own goal after Summerville had a strong effort deflected in. Leeds played really well here gaining a two-nil lead and holding on to it until close to the end of the match. Disappointing of course to not come away with the win against our bitter rivals. But a very good performance.
Willy Gnonto will not be shaken off the ball in a crowd of defenders. He delivers it to Patrick Bamford who puts it away with no fussing. A disappointing result as we had loads of chances. But "The Villa" take all 3 points.
